Heroic Bus Driver Reunites With 5-Year-Old Girl He Rescued
In a heartwarming reunion, New York City bus driver Luis Jimenez, 60, reconnected with 5-year-old Adaline "Addy" Gonzalez, whom he had rescued a month earlier after finding her wandering alone on a Harlem sidewalk. This touching event highlights the profound impact of community vigilance and compassion.
A Timely Rescue
In September 2024, while operating the M116 crosstown bus, Jimenez noticed young Addy walking by herself. His paternal instincts immediately prompted him to ensure her safety. Reflecting on the incident, Jimenez shared, "My instinct as a father came on because if I see a kid in the street in need of help, I would want somebody to help one of my children or one of my grandkids."
He promptly contacted authorities, staying with Addy until they arrived. It was later revealed that Addy had left school without permission, attempting to reach a pet store to replace her deceased fish.
